SENSEI ANDREW ROBERTS

Shell Judo Club Founder

Sensei Andrew Roberts began Judo in 1963 and was taught by the renowned instructors and the then heads of the national organisation; Kenshiro Abbe (8th Dan) and Matsutaro Otani (7th Dan).

Whilst thriving on their instruction he also frequently assisted Otani Sensei as his Uke and during 'off practice' times received insight into Kendo and Kyudo from Abbe Sensei who also held high grades in both disciplines.  In later times he also studied under the tutorship of Sensei Tom Rawcliffe.

As an instructor he has had the pleasure of guiding numerous students of the Club to their Dan grades.

Sensei is also qualified as Senior Kata Coach and Advanced Referee and Organiser.
